Creative Industries Event – Eki Train Stamps: a DIY interactive tour of Granton Campus Library
This DIY interactive activity is based on Eki train stamps in Tokyo, where stamps are collected in books across the city’s stations
Upon entering the library participants will be invited to pick up a piece of paper with library information and will be supported to fold it into a zine. Participants will then be encouraged to explore the library to find various ‘stations’. At each station, they will be able to explore a collection or complete an activity, then stamp their zine with a stamp that has been carved by a member of the library team.
Through this creative and collaborative library event, we hope to:
- Introduce staff & students to the wider library team
- Build students’ confidence in entering and using the library
- Highlight some of our collections, resources, and ‘library favourites’
- Demonstrate the library as a creative, collaborative, and inclusive space where everyone is and feels welcome
- Have fun whilst building opportunities to enhance learning
Thank you
On behalf of everyone from Edinburgh College Library, Jen and Hayley would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who participated in this event.
We are very proud to have welcomed over 150 students and staff to the library over three days and are excited to welcome them back as regular visitors.
We are planning to bring this event to more campuses over the coming months, and welcome ideas for further events with other curriculum teams in the future.
