What are research skills?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Information finding and \u2018googling\u2019 are very regular parts of our everyday lives, but being asked to research as part of your studies involves a much more specific and systematic approach to the general \u2018information finding\u2019 we are used to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some courses will require a practical or practice-based approach to research whilst others will look for a more systematic or academic approach, depending on the subject, project and method of learning. However, understanding what research is and learning how to develop effective research skills are an important part of learning for any student, no matter what course or level of study.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are many skills that need to be developed in order to conduct effective and efficient research, and this short course will give you an introduction to what we mean by research and provide you with opportunities to develop general research skills. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
